Road trip in Bulgaria Aug 2018

Road trip in Bulgaria

4-10 Aug 2019

I took a plane in London Stansted very early morning   On Sunday. As usual I didn’t sleep as I needed to catch up with all outstanding work in order to detach while going on holiday. I haven’t had any time off since a long time. A lot of travelling for work here and there, organising retreats for others. This time is a “me time” and retreat for my friend, her dog and me.

When I arrived to the final destination Sofia in Bulgaria, my American friend Heather came to pick me up with her little Minnie Monkey dog and her local friend - nephrologist Stephan. Stephan is the pioneer nephrologist specialised in yoga therapy. His unique approach to the traditional medicine fused with the alternative therapy makes his diagnosis and treatments very special and helpful. He diagnoses  people by using their own energy. My friend Heather has some serious kidneys problems as stated by doctors in London. He abolished that diagnosis and assisted her that there is nothing wrong with the kidneys. Because everyone is different therefore none of the standard measures should apply while healing the patients. I really like his way of thinking. In fact this would make me change the opinion about the traditional medical doctors who I haven’t visited since years.

Stephan is such as kind person. He recommended us to go to one of the most beautiful sea places in Bulgaria- Kamchia. On the way he bought us a huge half of a water melon and we went on the road. The place was almost 500km away from Sofia. We had a nice time driving up there and eventually we reached the final destination-Kamchia. Kamchia is the longest river in the Balkans peninsula which flows into the Black Sea.

We spent one in the hotel near by and the next day we are enjoying the Kamchia’s sea. We stayed on a very nice isolated  nudist beach at the end of the Kamchia’s beach next to the cliff.

The experience was very pleasant but the water wasn’t Cristal transparent.

We were a little bit disappointed with the  Bulgarian Coast experience.

We weren’t sure either we should be heading more north towards Macedonia, Romania and Ukraine. Finally We choose to go the the southernmost classy town near by Turkey. We were heading to Ahtopol. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ahtopol
On the way there we booked the hotel near by. We parked the car as usual near by the destination according to the GPS. But in reality the location wasn’t appropriate. We had to walk down the busy shopping/restaurants street to our hotel. When we got there it wasn’t appealing at all as a nice place to stay. In fact it looked like a post communistic place. Awful lifts taking you upstairs and the rooms and facilities were reminding me ex soviet period from Poland where I grew up. My friend didn’t want to stay there. We tried to find another accommodation in this crazy mass tourism place near by Ahtopol. Eventually after one and half hour wondering around we came  back to the car and drove to another location - Sinemorets https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinemorets
This place is really stunning, it has all we were looking for: Cristal transparent warm water, a beautiful lagoon where the river Velika is on one side of the beach and the Black Sea on the other side. The Velika river flows into the Black Sea. The chain of cliffs surrounds a beautiful coast. It is just a perfect place to stay. There are few cafes and restaurants but definitely it is not a mass tourism place. It’s in the middle of the natural reserve Strandzha Nature Park We stayed for three nights there in Villa California http://www.booking.com/Share-q0TFIowhich we can easily recommend. Great location by the sea, nice and clean accommodation, very nice owner Boyan. He arranged the meeting with the Sinemoretz Mayor in order to help me to set up my yoga retreat centre in the National Park. Thank you Boyan for your help and assistance. Thank you Mayor of Sinemoretz to dedicate your time to meet me and give me the opportunity to create a well being retreat centre in your beautiful region!!!

Thank you my wife for taking me on this adventure 🙏
