choreographic ideas

The choreography on the ocean (September 2012) The mast is rising up (elevetaed from the beach with people puling the wropes in) with a marmade on top of it, wrapped into the silky fabric. While the dancer appears on the top, starts the areal dance/Yoga performance with lights and music effects. The atmosphere is arising, from calm or raft switching into the thunder storm with the soundtrack/lights special effects. On the land - on the beach or piere is sited black dancer in a casual position when the knees are pulled in toward the chest. While the dancer from the top of the mast is rolling down the dancer from the ground is rolling towards the base of the mast. Both dancers meet and get elevated up to dance the areal duet, which will be a finale of the introductory piece. Instead of pulling the mast up from the ground, alternatively the sail could be pulled up with the dancer climbing up to the top, while the boat is sailing and entering the harbor. It could be monitored by the cameras and projected on the shore. After the boat anchored, the rest of the above choreography would go on. The site specific choreography (November 2012) Intro - the image of a male dancer standing up and ready to escape and the female dancer is anchored to his food, pulling it in, doesn't want to let him go. The melancholic /dramatic cell/piano/violin music, reflecting the cry and despair of her. Retrospection - the time an movement go back, reversing the events, coming back to the past as it was the present. The music is softening down, the image of a couple: a man turned with his back to a woman, whose chick/forehead touches his shoulder, upper-back, chest, female moving around him with a body contact and weight on him. He embraces her body in his arms as she was a child. She feels safe and protected. She is not looking for anything else to fulfil her happiness but just being next to him. A pure love and open heart transparent by the contact improvisation and some floor work movement, release technique. No lies, no resistance, letting all the emotions out to the world. The softness and fragility of both start slightly turning into an inner conflict having its sources in needs and expectations, the harmony and equality of both are breaking down in to two separated worlds. Back to the beginning of the piece. Very heavy music scores take over: heavy metal, hard core... Ending - the man is hooked to the ankle of the woman who wants to escape from the suffocated and egocentric/fake world they both created. No facial expression on her face, she is completely dissociated from him, her self and surroundings. She's been already there and she doesn't want to feel the pain again. She prefers just disconnect from her body and mind to save herself or die. Motto - there is neither happiness nor misery. The expectations and selfishness of having someone for our own pleasure ruin the purity of the relationship. Not being able to forgive, leads us to loose the self control. The projection of unreal world makes the worse become real. The piece shows the perception of the indifferent world, its approach to what's unreal and focuses on how the negative/positive mind projection can make our life either the hell or a haven.

Sailing in South Italy (Procida Island) September 2012

Sailing in South Italy (Procida Island) September 2012
And here I am, back to London from Italy, using the opportunity to write while waiting for the Gatwick express train to go home to St Pancrass Station. After I got back from Boston I spent few days in London for the Yoga Therapy course, to take off again to a wonderful Italy. I've lended in Rome, took a shuttle bus to Rome Termini and then Intercity train to Central Naples. After one quarter of hour I ended up on the sailing boat Ydra2 Amel 53". My captain was there to greet me and take me to a lovely island of Procida. It takes only a couple of hours on a sailing boat to get there. We had got a nice 'caprese salad' (mozzarella with tomatoes and fresh basil) during the transit to the island. Mozarella di bufalla is the best speciality of southern Italy. The taste and the texture of it is unique and I could only eat mozzarella while I'm there. In the morning I could jump in a turquoise water of Thirrenian sea, swim 1 and half miles, run along the Chiaia's beach and practice yoga in the sand by a sunrise. Whenever I'm on board those moments are so unique, the sunset and sunrise's swim combined with a yoga practice are marvellous. This is the only time during the year when I can really reconnect with myself and allow to enter such a universal space of being merged with the sea and the sand. My friends call me either a dolphin or mermaid to describe how much I'm passionate about the water. If I wasn't only cold after an hour of swimming I could be in the water for ever as I don't get tired. We spent 2 and half weeks changing the anchored spots between the beaches such as Chiaia, Chiaiolella and Cornicella. There was one week the boat stayed in a harbour as a captain had to go Naples. I spent that time with my parents who came to visit me. We lived on the boat where we practiced yoga in the morning and evening, had breakfast and dinner on board. During the day we were exploring every single unique beaches by the cost. My favourite one was Pozzu Vecchio, famous because of a very well known italian legend film 'Postino' (postman) . Considering that Procida is such a tiny fishing island, there is a quite significant population concentration and increased cars number, every square meter of the landscape is so unique in its beauty and picturesque. People are not impressively kind but also not insisting, they leave tourists in peace and do not try to get on their way. They are actually very respectful. During that time spent in Procida I was also exposed to capitan's lovely friends who own few sailing boats and charter them (Procgetto Oceano). One of the evenings we went out with them to have the best Procidanian pizza. It was really great. The restaurants in Procida are not the best, it's very disappointing to go out for a dinner. In fact most of the time we ate on our lovely boat. The breakfasts on the land thought are much more impressive considering the tasty Procidan pastry which calls 'lingua' =tounge. You can have 'linga alla crema' or 'al limone'. Most of the time they are just taken out of the oven, so you can taste them warm. The caffe is not great, the ice-cream pretty good. By being near by the shore I could have the internet connection so could do some work and study. Though there were many distractions to keep up focus. We were so lucky to have on board our old friends form Antigua. They happened to fly to Italy the same day as me and we managed to see each other in Procida. We sailed for an hour to Naples Pozzuoli to pick them up as we had got a wind on our favour. We spent together a couple of days bringing up the memories from few years back when I lived in Antigua. My female friend is a Jamaican contemporary dancer, who also visited me in London few times. My male friend is an Italian owner of a very well know italian restaurant, cafe and disco clubs in Antiguan English Harbour which calls ' Abracadabra'. It's a magic place. On the way back from the yacht after the mythical breakfast at the bar ' Da Cavaliere' we both took the ship - traghetto - to go - me to Naples, them to Pozzoli. The captain remained few more hours on the boat to fix it up so he could leave for few days to Naples. My way back to London was pretty long and interesting, I took ferry from Procida to Naples (1h), after the breakfast and last swim, then while I was walking toward the Stazione central di Napoli i did some quick shopping and I went to take pizza away from the most characteristic and the oldest pizzeria anticha da michele (1h). When I've got on the train I met someone, who has got an agricultural company which was producing the buffalos mozzarella (mozzarella di buffalo). Hs was about to complete his second degree in veterinary. He invited me to come and taste his mozzarella in Latina, where my parents used to live 20 years ago. It's such a coincidence that I met on the train Napoli-Roma someone from there. The train arrived delayed of half an hour (3h) so I was very tight with the time to catch the shuttle bus from Rome Termini to Fiumiciono airport. I've got there eventually 15 mins before the scheduled departure's time but likely the flight was delayed of 1 hour. So I was very grateful for that. Sometimes delays are working on our favour. Now I'm still on the train from Gatwick to St Pancras and I feel exhausted. It's already midnight and I need to get up very early in the morning to go to yoga therapy course with my wife. I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT WE DECIDED TO GO AROUND THE WORLD TRIP ON THE BOAT IN ONE YEAR TIME. BY NOVEMBER 2013 I NEED TO BE READY TO LEAVE EVERYTHING for ever and immerse in the middle of the oceans.

USA: BOSTON AUG 2012

August 2012 I forgot how awarding it is to wake up early in the morning at 5am and have a yoga practice at sunrise on the pier by the Charles river. This is almost the end of my monthly stay in Boston which I began to love. It's such a complex city which offers everything from the parks to the river and the ocean, from the harbours to the beaches and islands, from the theatres to the art galeries, science museums, from the music to the dance, from the skyscrapers to the country houses, from the beggars to the Harvard's/ MIT professors and highly qualified medical doctors. From the peace to the haos but just in a right amount. I forgot to mention, from the lobster's brain to the clams juice which you can enjoy in a special company. Beacause of the summer time the arts events are very poor, however I've still managed to watch a classical music concert with a disable violinist. His performance was merged with a painting artist whose gracious movement across the tale by throwing the different colours paints enriched the impressive sound of the violin. Very lucky I was invited to this event last minute by very talented dance producer who developed the Grimp Project (fusion of professional dancers and disable artists). As I've already booked the ticket for the Musical 'cartalk' on the same e evening unfortunately I couldn't finish watching the concert, which was apparently much more abstract and unique, than the musical I was rushing to see later. Never the less I've managed to see both, a very niche project which I loved and much more commercial musical which was average. The interesting thing about the musical was that the cast was made of students and professionals with support of MIT-the biggest educational institution in the world (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). Everything in this 1mln habitants city seems to be so balanced and right. There is no stress of the big metropoli even thought it's a quite big and developed city. Even if since the beganing it looked like an isolated city in terms of making friends, evantualy it appeared much more available and easy going. I made some friends, when I'm free of my working catch up duties, spend some time out going to the wonderful beaches on the eastern cost such as: Glocester, hoursenack, Hull, Ptown in Cape Cod. The beaches are gigantic, miles long surrounded by sandy dunes. The weather is perfect, everyday around 30c degrees. The only concern is the ocean, the water is not turquoise or transparent, its colur is rather green or brown. Still continue swimming miles away. Masachusets in the USA is a kingdom of sea food especially lobster, which I'm having at least twice a week. The price of it is relatively cheap in the restaurants and very cheap in the supermarkets. I can have one lobster by 5$. The rar fish and seafood - sushi is fantastic. The culinar speciality of this state is clam Chowder and gigantic clams are all over the place. The food either in the restaurants or in the shops is delicious. The sea food and the fish is a main part of my diet. Generally everything is cheaper in terms of services such as beautition, coblar and so on. Though for everything one must pay, for example the carparks to access the beaches. Americans are used to go to the places designated by the state such as beaches or forests. In order to go to the beach one needs to pay for the car park from 7 to 25$, otherwise there is no other place to park. In the residential area there is no way to leave the car. The nicest beach so far was the Hourseback, miles long and with wonderfull dunes. Though the other places like Gloucester, Holly were also unique in their own way. Gloucester very picturesque with an intimate small beach, Holly a peninsula opened to the cold Atlantic ocean from the one side and repaired from the wind bay from the other residential side. Both really cousy. The next destination is Newport and Crane Beach. The city of Boston is made of two major locations, Charles river with a reach vegetation and the charbour - very turistic area of Quincy Market (similar to the Covent Garden in London). I met over here some interesting people who I would like to collaborate with in the future in regards the performing arts as well as well being. Americans are very consistent and hard workers, you can rely on them. This is what makes this country strong and safe. I feel here even safer than in London. Because of the smaller size of the city and decreased number of population there is less competition and probabely easier to develop the projects. I've already found few links to proceed possibly with my future projects here in Boston. I'm looking forward to come back to this city in April the next year 2013. If I ever move
to Boston I would like to live with my wife in the Reviere Beach by the ocean, which is a wonderful sandy beach place with a clear ocean.
